5-Star Reviews for Mare Oyster Bar

We always strive to deliver a wonderful dining experience for our customers! Here are a few 5-star reviews that Mare Oyster Bar has received in July of 2018:

“The best meal I have ever had. The food was outstanding.  I had the Paella Pasta with Seafood special. It was amazing. The burrata and prosciutto appetizer special was outstanding. The little neck clams excellent. All 9 of us were saying it was the best meal.  Service was outstanding as well. Quick to take plates away, bring more bread, drinks, etc. The very observant staff made sure we were happy.  At the end of the meal I wanted the Chefs autograph.  Need I say more?  A must if you want an outstanding meal.”

Great hidden gem. We stumbled upon this restaurant after a friend glowingly spoke about this place. We wandered in through a somewhat hidden alley off busy Hanover Street…There are couches, and fire pits, TVs and a very relaxed vibe. There is indoor and outdoor dining. We sat outside, and while there is no view (except overlooking a very busy street,) it is intimate and fun.
We started with a few oysters to share. They were very fresh, creamy and sweet, with a slightly briney taste. We ordered the mussels in a garlicky sauce, and seared scallops with bacon wrapped asparagus and butternut squash purée. Outstanding! We split. The hot lobster roll. It seemed a bit pricey, but when you saw all of that sweet, tender, juicy, buttery lobster, it was worth it. And the fries….wow!
Very good professional service. Appetizers were a bit pricey, but the portions were very substantial. We had an awesome time and will return”

“Perfect start to the weekend! This swanky restuarant tucked away just off Hanover St. in the North end of Boston did not disappoint! The service and wait staff made sure our time spent at Mare was perfect.
Our server Rodolfo was engaging, knowledgeable, and the best well-paced server I’ve ever encountered. His timing was impeccable. Warm bread, Italian green olives and olive oil started our experience. We ordered oysters crudo from the extensive list from east to west coast. They did not disappoint. Every one distinctly different in flavor profile and finish. Almost like drinking a fine wine.
Our salads, appetizer and main courses were all prepared as described on the menu and served piping hot and very tasty. The Ceaser bib salad was crisp and fresh served with white anchovies on the side. The stuffed calamari served on a puddle of pesto and red tomato sauce were tender and full of seafood stuffing. The halibut special was also excellent. A huge piece of fish cooked perfectly and surrounded by clams and mussels in a tomato-based sauce. Very satisfying.
We opted for the fig and chocolate bread pudding for dessert along with a Roman coffee. A delicious and sweet end to a great meal.
There were 3-4 men in suits…circulating through the dining areas, stopping randomly to check and make sure patrons were happy and helping service staff to stay on top of a very busy dinner service. Ours was funny, engaging and added a very special touch to the whole experience. “

“Omg we loved it here!!! We sat on the patio and it was a perfect night. Our server was excellent and the food was superb. They take reservations – we made ours for 8:15pm and we arrived 15 minutes early. We ordered a drink and went outside to sit on the comfy couches by the fire-pit table. Very cozy.
We didn’t wait long before we were seated. We ordered the grilled octopus and zucchini blossoms (filled with fresh lobster) and both were to die for. The main courses were the Truffled Tuna and the Seafood Tagliatelle. Both were amazing. The menu is filled with tempting dishes…it is very difficult to decide. The plates are large, we actually could have shared an [app] and split a main course! Bring a takeout container with you! I will go back whenever we are in town again. Loved it so much!!!”

“Mare was such a great time! The food was amazing and the outdoor patio area was really nice to sit at. The service was good, the ambiance was nice and the people were friendly. It is a little pricey, but we wanted to go to a nice dinner out first night in Boston and it was well worth it! Get the stuffed [zucchini] blossoms as an app, they are delicious!”

“Great find that we stumbled upon. The outdoor dining space was lovely – a great lounge area with fire pits and couches. The oysters we had were very fresh, creamy, slightly briney. The seared scallops, served with bacon wrapped asparagus and butternut squash purée was delicious! The mussels were tender, fresh and sand-free. We shared a hot Lobster roll and it was superb! Tons of tender, juicy buttery lobster on a toasted roll – not soggy at all. The price is up there, but you do get more [lobster] meat than any other lobster roll I’ve ever had. And those rosemary fries….The wait staff was very professional and efficient. A great meal and wonderful atmosphere.

“This is my favorite restaurant in Boston. The food is always excellent, and the service is even better. A must try in the North End.”

“The food was absolutely incredible! No wonder they are known for their seafood…The grilled octopus appetizer and the lobster ravioli was to die for! Highly recommend this place for authentic Italian in the North end!”

“Outstanding food (tuna crudo, fried clams, filet, baked stuff lobsters:), professional, prompt service, tucked away in a cozy enclave just steps away from the hustle and bustle of Hanover St! Best dinner we’ve had in Boston.”

“Mare has a wonderful ambiance and is a great alternative to the usual north end spot. The grilled octopus was delicious!”

“First time here, ordered lobster bisque and crudo for appetizer then had the lobster pappardelle and grilled seafood, amazing!! Service was great!

Food at Mare was outstanding! My wife had the swordfish and I had a stuffed lobster special which was amazing. The grilled octopus appetizer was great as well.”

Excellent food, wonderful service. The owners were warm and accommodating. Rita is the best! So happy that we waited. Terrific!”
